About me

About me:
that I am a nuclear power plant kind of guy. You're going to look at me, and you're going to think to yourself, there's no way in the world this guy hangs out with the Homer Simpsons of the world. I believe that you are defined not by what you do for a living but how you live your life. I've spent most of my young adult life traveling. I've been to 30 different countries, and my passion is immersing myself in culture. Every day I'm drawn into the world around me. It could be a simple thing, like a walk home on a pleasant evening, and being able to exchange conversation with total strangers, and sometimes I think, how have we not met yet?... It's amazing how much you can learn just walking the streets of DC. It's a city full of smart, interesting, ambitious, fun people. Just exchanging 30 second conversations each step of the way enables you really to learn something about other people and yourself. When I traveled all over the world, I used to spend hours a day just talking to people and soaking up the culture as best I could. When I travel, I always try to spend my time wading into real life in a place, not at tourist spots. I like to live in a culture because when you do, you not only absorb the culture, but it absorbs you too, and it becomes part of your soul. I spent several years in Japan, embraced by the most wonderful friends who I met in the most amazing strokes of good fortune, and they showed me the ins and outs of the place. I came away with a great passion for the Japanese language and now I'm actually setting up this website about learning Japanese. I'll tell you more about it when we meet, because I truly believe that you're put on this earth to live a life of passion and live a life of doing what you love. So I'm not always going to be Homer Simpson in the nuclear power plant. One of my favorite things to do is explore the twisted side of life and I've found no better way to do that than through the practice of Bikram Yoga. It's not only feeling my body in contorted postures that makes me feel great, it's the inner feeling that I have, the peace that I find by getting out of the hustle and bustle, and just getting one with myself. I actually passed out in class the other day and woke up feeling the best I've felt in my life :-)
