About me
About me:
I don?t like clowns, feet, parking garages, and spiders. Seeing a clown in a parking garage would probably really irritate me. I value trust, honesty, and kindness, in myself and others. I strive to be considerate and to think about how my actions impact others. I like balance but I have a tough time achieving it. I am a creature of habit but I can?t seem to get a routine down. In the last year and a half I have been to Africa four times, India, New Zealand, and Europe ? I want to see all the continents in my lifetime. I am a really lousy photographer and I envy those who are good with the camera. I love taking pictures and spending time in the darkroom with all the chemicals, watching my creations appear from a blank piece of paper. I am an animal person, I get attached to other people?s dogs and cats, and I want to find time to volunteer at an animal rescue shelter. I?ve jumped out of an airplane, and although I am glad I did it, I didn?t enjoy it. I believe that I have a choice of how to use my time and I choose not to let work control my life, because I feel that I spent enough time in grad-school working, and I want time for myself. I don?t feel the need to be online or connected to my cell phone at all times, but I am guilty of constantly checking my email on my blackberry. I prefer to walk to my shuttle stop instead of driving my car, leave the car at home. Sometimes I like to veg out on the couch and watch TV and I am okay with that. I am a really good swimmer, and one of my most magical moments ever was while scuba diving - floating over a bright and sparkly reef with a harbor seal in the Monterey Bay. I like boiled peanuts, have caught Hellbenders, know what a ?meat and three? is, enjoyed a bit of moonshine, some of my best buddies are blue grass musicians, had a going away party in a barn, but yet never attended a civil war reenactment? I am not afraid to say what is on my mind, but some people find it?s difficult to get to know me. I like to smile. I am financially responsible. I like to spend Sunday afternoons with my mom. I want to go to China next fall on the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce trip. I think others perceive me as independent, caring, but some say I can be closed off. I don?t think so if I am with the right people. My two best friends I?ve known my entire life, it?s lovely to have friends for that long. I am close to my family. I lived in Germany for a year. Spelling in English is not one of my strengths, but I can spell ok in German. I like to listen to music, particularly indie. My favorite beer is cheap beer, I?m talking like PBR, and I prefer dive bars over clubs. I had ants in my kitchen and I yelled at them, and they seem to have left now. I like to do things outside, like walking or biking, kayaking, camping. My favorite things: exploring new destinations, cultures, languages and customs, going out on friday nights, the Red Room, the ocean, photography, books, coffee, swimming.
