About me

About me:
I'm very active - I love running and cycling. I'm not great at either, but I love the challenge and I like staying healthy. I also love to take it easy and to nap on a weekend afternoon (but rarely ever get around to doing so). I have a passion for music that is, unfortunately, much greater than my schedule permits me to indulge. I own two guitars, but am forever promising myself that Ill learn to play more than the two chords I currently know. I used to be ahead of the curve in knowing all the cool bands before others heard about them, but now I feel like much less of an insider (damn you, Pandora!!!). Nevertheless, I love seeing live music. Im extroverted and love being around people. I laugh a lot and have a self-deprecating sense of humor with a hint of sarcasm. I spend a lot of time with friends often traveling around the country on the weekends to see them, and while I can enjoy evenings at home with someone special, I'll generally prefer to be out socializing. I grew up in a small town in Indiana, and I've lived in the South and all around the east coast (Boston is like a second home).

The serious side of me:While I'm an extrovert, I have a strongly introspective side to my personality. I've had some pretty incredible experiences in life that have helped me to realize how fortunate I've been. My passion for social justice is probably somewhat rooted in my quasi-Catholic upbringing, but is likely more attributable to the fact that, as a young person, I had friends who were very diverse (at least by small town Indiana standard

I've also come to admire Hegel's observation when he wrote, Of this I am certain, nothing great in this world was ever accomplished without passion. I love being around passionate people who care deeply about the world around them. I like to discuss new ideas and to debate policy. I think that each one of us, but particularly those of us who have been most fortunate, have a moral obligation to work to make the world a better place for the generations after us.
